During the Buddha's lifetime, some monks lived in nude paintings in their places of residence. Realizing that it was an obstacle to Nirvana, he preached that no human figure should be painted in the place where a monk lived. Not only that, but a disciplinary law was also enacted. If a monk wanted to decorate his living room, the Buddha would approve of floral patterns and virile shapes. The Buddha has endorsed five colors for that. Namely black, moon, red, guru, green etc. and the resulting color variants.
